FileNook is a Windows application that tidies up the files on your computer: it reads them, works out what they are about and proposes moving them into sensible folders. To work that out it relies on an artificial intelligence model running on our servers; what is sent to the model, and for how long it stays, is written in the privacy notice.
FileNook moves files, it does not copy them elsewhere: they stay on your disk and are not uploaded anywhere. Only the fragments of text needed to work out what a file is about reach the model — never the whole file, and never your files in bulk.
With Nex one more rule applies, and it should be read before turning it on: in order to find your files again, Nex sends the model an extract of every file FileNook has filed, photos and documents included. The cards it builds from them stay on your computer and never reach our servers. It is written out in full in the privacy notice. Without Nex it does not happen.
Nex's free trial. Before asking you for a penny, Nex finds three files for you. A question that finds nothing costs nothing: the trial is used up only when Nex actually finds something. So that it can answer at all, during the trial it reads up to 200 files and accepts up to ten questions. The trial is good once per email address — it does not come back by reinstalling the app or by remaking the account — and it has no deadline in days. Gift plans for testers do not include Nex.
If you cancel Nex, the cards it built stay on your computer: you have already paid for them. What ends is asking it questions and having new files read.
The counters reset every calendar month. The limits are what keeps the service standing up: every file the app understands costs us one request to the model, which we pay for.
Pro starts with a thirty-day free trial, no payment. The card is asked for right away, at activation: it is there so the subscription can start on its own at the end of the trial, without you having to come back and do anything. Cancel before the thirty days are up and you are not charged anything.
Once the trial ends, the subscription renews by itself at €7.00 a month (final price, nothing added), on the same date each month, until you cancel it. Payments go through Stripe: your card details reach them and never pass through us.
You can cancel whenever you like, from the app: My plan → Manage subscription. Cancelling always takes effect at the end of the period, the trial month included: cancel during the trial and FileNook keeps working until the last of the thirty days, then it stops, and nothing is charged. Cancel after you have started paying and it works the same way: you stay Pro (or Nex) until the date already paid for, and from then on the subscription ends with no further charges. There is no penalty and no minimum term.
If a payment fails we tell you inside the app and you have a few days to fix the payment method before the subscription closes.
If you are a consumer you have fourteen days from activation to change your mind, without having to give a reason. During the trial month you have paid nothing: withdrawing in those days simply means cancelling, and there is nothing to refund. The service starts straight away regardless, and by asking for it to start you accept that performance begins before the fourteen days are up. If you withdraw after the trial has ended and you have already been charged, we refund the part of the month you did not use.
To withdraw, use the “Withdraw from the contract” page, linked at the bottom of every page of the site: you give your name, email and contract, confirm, and immediately get an acknowledgement of receipt with the date and time, on screen and by email. You don't need to sign in. You can also write to us at the address given at the top of this page. If you are owed a refund, we make it within fourteen days of the day we receive the request, using the same payment method you used.
FileNook proposes an arrangement and carries it out: the proposals are decided by an artificial intelligence model, which can get things wrong. That is why the app always shows the preview before moving anything, keeps a history of the moves and lets you undo them. When it doesn't understand a file it tells you and leaves it where it is.
We ask you to do what one does before any operation on one's own files: keep a backup. We are not liable for data loss caused by faults in your computer, by interruptions during a move, or by using the app on folders you have no copy of. To the extent permitted by law, our liability does not exceed what you have paid us in the last twelve months; none of this limits the rights the law gives consumers.
The service can have outages: it relies on third-party providers (the artificial intelligence model, the store, the server, payments) and none of them is up all the time. We do what we can to keep it working, but we do not promise uninterrupted availability.
The subscription is personal. You may not resell access, get around the monthly limit by creating a chain of accounts, or use the service to process files you have no right to handle. If that happens we may suspend the account, after warning you where possible.
We can change them: when we do we tell you by email at least thirty days in advance if the change actually affects you (the price or the limits, for example). If it doesn't suit you, you can cancel before it takes effect, and you pay nothing more.
Italian law applies. If you are a consumer, the competent court is the one where you reside or are domiciled.
For anything at all — a question, a refund — write to the address given in the box at the top of this page. For a withdrawal there is the “Withdraw from the contract” page.
